An additional tip on if you keep a baseball bat for protection in your car, make sure you keep a ball and glove in there as well. Your lawyer will thank you.

State your point and stop talking. When you keep talking you weaken your point over explaining.

Before going to bed at night. Do a 15 min speed clean up. Grab all the clutter as best as you can and put it where it goes within 15-minute s.

The advice to take pics of your kids when going somewhere just helped a mom find her lost 9yo at the beach this Memorial Day. Crazy how good this advice is.

pretend all your arguments are being recorded. I started doing this and people thought I was being “the mature one” can really save you from embarrassment

Focusing on the error, instead of who did it, is something I've been doing for years and it works wonders. Just skip the blame game and the defensiveness, and get to work fixing the problem.

Here’s a neat trick I learned from Tumblr; if you have tinnitus (ringing in your ears) and you want to stop it immediately, cover your ears with the palms of your hands so your fingers are aimed towards the back of your head, and then use your fingers to repeatedly tap the hollow of your neck. (It’s that spot where your head connects to your neck) If done right, it should kinda sound like a drum. Do this for a few seconds, and when you remove your hands, the ringing will either be completely gone or significantly quieter. I get tinnitus ALL the time, and it’s annoying as hell, so I do this A LOT, but this odd little trick literally clears it up instantly for me and I could honestly kiss the person who made the original post because of how helpful it is.

I like how the TTS voice pronounces "Doritos" like " Doritus". Sounds like a Greek god. Or some kind of skin disease

On Christmas break last year I looked at a Reddit thread of tips for college students and one was “if it’s less than 5 floors, take the stairs,” which was so oddly specific I remembered it and did just that on campus in the spring semester. In June I got a case of Covid that really messed with my lungs. I think it would have been worse if my lungs weren’t in such good shape from taking the stairs everywhere. So thank you, whoever recommended that.

I had to start a new note on my phone of just "Useful stuff in general" because these are really helpful

Not from Reddit, it's from YouTube. The tip I learned made percentages way easier.
Say you're given 12% of 82. The trick is to take the first number for the percentage and multiply it by the second number, with decimal place shifted left once. Do this step for every number, then add all the numbers and you have your answer.

Example:
12% of 82

1 * 8.2 = 8.2
2 * .82 = 1.64

So our answer is 9.84.

I sometimes enjoy arguing with people on the internet. It lets me reexamine my beliefs and resharpen my arguments, and since no ones mind is changed, it's consequence free.

My favorite argument ever was with a moon landing denier who actually had some basic grasp of science - I learned a lot of the nitty-gritty about how rocket nozzles work by trying to tear down one of his misconceptions. Things I sort of knew, but hadn't examined closely.
