  For me, Thailand is a very easy introduction to the region because you get a little bit of everything. &nbsp;You have Bangkok with its temples, shopping, markets, incredible food, and nightlife. &nbsp;Then you can go to Chiang Mai for a completely different experience with temples, mountains, and a slower pace, or head south to places like Phuket or Krabi for beaches and islands.<br><br>I also think Thailand is relatively easy for a first-time visitor. &nbsp;The tourism infrastructure is very well developed, there are plenty of hotels at different price points, transport is convenient, and there is a huge tourist and expat community. &nbsp;English is also widely used in tourist areas, so you don&apos;t feel completely lost.<br><br>Vietnam is wonderful, too, and I wouldn&apos;t discourage anyone from going there. &nbsp;In fact, I think Vietnam can be more adventurous and exciting. &nbsp;Hanoi has so much character, the food is fantastic, the street life is incredibly energetic, and you have places like Ha Long Bay and beautiful coastal areas.<br><br>But for a first trip, Vietnam can feel a little more challenging. &nbsp;The traffic and motorbikes can be quite overwhelming, there can be more of a language barrier, and the whole experience can feel more intense. &nbsp;Personally, I think that&apos;s part of Vietnam&apos;s charm, but perhaps it&apos;s not everyone&apos;s ideal introduction to Southeast Asia.<br><br>So, for me, if someone said, &quot;I&apos;ve never been to Southeast Asia before. &nbsp;Where should I go?&quot; &nbsp;I&apos;d probably say Thailand. &nbsp;It&apos;s exciting enough to feel like a real adventure, but comfortable and easy enough that you don&apos;t spend the whole holiday trying to figure out how everything works.<br><br>I&apos;d give Thailand about a 9 out of 10 for a first-time visitor, and Vietnam perhaps an 8.5. Vietnam might actually be the country I&apos;d choose for my second trip once I&apos;ve become more comfortable with Southeast Asia.<br><br>And of course, I&apos;m probably a little biased because I genuinely love Bangkok. ❤️ &nbsp;There&apos;s something about the food, energy, culture, and lifestyle that keeps drawing me back.<br><br>So, if you want your first Southeast Asian experience to be exciting but relatively easy and comfortable, I&apos;d say Thailand. &nbsp;If you&apos;re looking for something a little more adventurous, intense, and unpredictable, then Vietnam would be a fantastic choice, too. 😊

  I actually liked Vietnam but Thailand is awesome. Personally my favourite SE Asia country is Malaysia and I also love Indonesia too

  Loved vietnam off to thailand on 18th next month so ill get back to you but from what I&apos;ve heard vietnam is cheaper thailand is more touristy

  Vietnam is much better than Thailand in all respects for family trips with best activities for kids.<br><br>Thailand is naturally beautiful with beaches but lacks with clean environment as much as Malaysia and Vietnam, and also Thailand Government is not developing Phuket and krabi with well developed kids activities as much as Phu Quoc, Da Nang and Hanoi in Vietnam. Even Langkawi, Malaysia is far better for family fun than Phuket.<br><br><br>Thailand is just for solo travellers and Newly married couple without kids and not for family with kids.
