  My dad flew Thuds in Vietnam for four years. He went to Korat as an LT and left as a Major. Got shot down twice, brought one in so damaged they wrote it off and had to eject in Laos due to engine failure. He adored the F-105. He flew most of the Century Series (except the 104) and flew the F-111 as well. He eventually got an office job during the YF-16 and YF-17 competition and then with General Dynamics to create the training manuals for the F-16. After that he was Asst. Base Commander at Reese AFB and lead training classes for USAF pilots. &nbsp;He retired in 1978 as a Lt. Col. Of all the planes he checked out on, his favorite was the F-105. He said the F-105 saved his life more times than he could count and was the best combat aircraft the USAF put in the sky. As someone having flown over 125 mission in the Thud over Vietnam, I will take his word for it.

  The book &quot;Thud Ridge&quot; by Col. Jack Broughton is considered the best book ever written about the Thuds in Vietnam. You will understand their motto of &quot;Wake up, Get up, Throw up and Go Up&quot;. Some of the pilots, after a long mission, were so mentally and physically exhausted they had to be helped out of the aircraft. I felt exhausted just reading about it. If you liked this documentary, the book will blow you away.

  I flew ground attack with the UK RAF for near on 17 years. &nbsp;The F105 guys&apos; were my hero&apos;s and they still are. &nbsp;They were betrayed by that fool McNamara, aided and abetted by Johnson and their 4/3/2 star leaders, but in the face of their leaders incompetence and rank cowardice, &nbsp;they did their duty with immense pride, professionalism and dedication. &nbsp;You are still my hero&apos;s.

  My dad was a weapons loader on the F 105 during Vietnam. He loved that airplane. He used to buy me these tiny, highly detailed models of the 105 when I was a kid. Great airplane for sure. RIP Pops. He loved his F 105s

  One of the best documentary I&apos;ve watched. And NO AI !!<br>I think the rescue helicopter pilots and crew were as much heroes.

  I am a combat Veteran of two tours in Vietnam. &nbsp;During &nbsp;that time I was proud. &nbsp;Subsequent history has shown me that the entire Vietnam War was predicated on a lie and that Johnson is, in all probability, the worst politician of his time. May he and McNamara suffer in he&apos;ll for what they did to my generation. &nbsp;Unfortunately, &nbsp;subsequent politicians have by in large proven, with few exceptions to be no better. While I am proud still to have served my country and to be an American, &nbsp;I have no use for most politicians who are best narcissistic and worst have no moral compass concerning their constituents and don&apos;t deserve our respect.

  One of the best documentaries I’ve seen on the Vietnam air war and particularly the Thud. My stepfather spent almost three years in Vietnam as a PJ. I read Thud Ridge when it first came out. All these men were incredible. For those who fought for it, freedom has a flavor the protected will never know.
