i owned axr 100. the fan in it is way to loud. I Shipped it back and got a vintage rotel ra 980bx. It has been maintained and upgraded with new capacitors. With a good pair of speakers they will shake the room.

Just coming back four years later and saying I followed the recommendation for the first system with the Kanto YU6s and the Fluance RT85 turntable and added a WiiM mini. Four years ago my total was $967. Since then I have added the Kanto stands and the Kanto Sub8. I also upgraded to the WiiM Ultra. This year I added a FiiO DM 30 for CDs and absolutely see no need to go any further for home audio. (I also invested in a portable/head phone system the past two years.)The system is perfect for my audio needs and I can hook my TV up the Ultra.

At 57 years old I finally have the listening room and home audio experience I always wanted and it was way more affordable than I thought. I took time building it out after starting with my “Beginner’s” build inspired by this very video.

Andrew, I don’t know if you will see this, but just want to say thank you. I’ve enjoyed the system for the last four years and plan on enjoying it for the rest of my life. No need found here to go down the upgrade path any further. You helped me reach a sensible and attainable but still “Audio Nirvana.”

Edit to add: Total Spend over four years : $1,992 or roughly $500 a year. The only “Upgrade” was the WiiM mini to the Ultra and the Mini was repurposed to use with our powered bedroom speakers (Cheap Creative Audio PC speakers 😅.)

Thank you again for helping this old girl have a great system without wasting a lot of money.

recommendation for hifi turntable dedicated system - listening preferences being rock, classical, jazz, .... most genres minus hip-hop and country. around $1,000 budget excluding a turntable - Room is 12' x 16ft. Looking for speakers, amp, sub combo.....

I would recommend a system consisting of a pair of powered speakers with streaming capabilities like the KEF LSX-II-LT. That’s all you need, and it’s under $1000.
