The more a few moronic rude tourists complain, the more certain Canadians can be that they are doing things right! Love to Canada from Europe!

Just for contrast: I was on Vancouver's popular Granville Island, installing a new poster in a bus shelter. A man walked up hesitantly, and with a broad Noo Yawk accent, asked if I could tell him how to get to the "Hawshoe Bay Ferries." <br>""Sure!" I said, adding that I was sorry but as he was in the middle of the city, there was no easy answer. I explained how he'd have to get onto the bridge overhead, got downtown on Seymour Street, watch for signs and for Georgia Street; there, turn left, and he'd head out of town via Stanley Park and the Lions Gate Bridge." There was more, but for brevity I'll stop. <br>"You know, evah since I've bin in Canada, everyone" and here, I thought I was in for a scathing critique, "has been so friendly and helpful it's bin amazing! If I could, I'd move heah in a minute!"<br>"A New York minute I presume?" I said with a smile.<br>"One o' those, you bet!" He thanked me again and went on his way. <br>Some Americans appreciate the Canadian way. It's nice.

"Canada has weaponized friendliness." <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0bmsgPO7SM&t=105">1:45</a> I blew a coffee noser over that one! Damn right we have!

I was at the airport in Toronto, the was a long delay for a group headed home to Newfoundland. They pulled out their musical instruments and we were treated to some down home music. What fun. We got to join in, no one complained, there was no one insisting it stop. Gate staff realized that cheerful singing definitely better than the U.S. version of loudly complaining. Best three hour delay ever.

As a Canadian i have to ask these Americans that think like this, what makes you think we want to be American? Keep that colonizer mindset in America and fix your own country and catch up with the times, youre only regressing...

Sometimes I don't understand why Americans travel, They want every place they go to, to be just like home. What's the point of that?

Once encountered an American at a tourist office in Victoria BC who wanted directions to the bridge off the island. There is no bridge but she kept insisting that was how she got there.

Been to Canada (BC) long time ago. We were surprised by the unintrusive friendliness of everybody and enjoyed it. We are Germans. I'd love to visit again. But never desired to visit the US.
