  idk how helpful this is but just in case, salmonella, E Colli and a lot of the other Big Offenders for food-borne pathogens are common soil bacteria, that’s why they’re such common contaminants—chicken eats stuff off the ground, introduces the bacteria to their gut and then it ends up on the shit on the outside of the egg. Eggshells are porous, and especially for battery hens where stress and malnutrition are major issues the shells can be abnormally thin, which makes it easier for bacteria to get into the contents of the egg (even if you personally buy cage free, free range or pasture raised eggs a lot of commercial bakeries like the ones that do the pre-made cookie dough won’t, battery eggs are cheaper). For the flour, the combine harvester kicks up dirt which gets on the wheat stalks, and grain silos are also just generally dirty af. For salmonella in meat that tends to be an issue with sanitation at the abattoir, animals with shit on their skin from being packed together during transport and not being washed before cleaning and breaking down the carcass, or intestinal contents getting onto the meat when they’re being cleaned are usually how that happens.
