  A buddy retired from the military and used his savings to buy a rig. His retirement keeps him in basics, and he has paid off the truck. He loves the road, but when times get lean, he parks. As he told me, he did the math and found that he was working for $4k a year after expenses. Now when it gets like that, he goes fishing until the margin is better.

  Costco in Maryland has made some changes and I love going to Monrovia when asked to deliver there…  I haven’t been to the one in Jersey in several years but they were also good back then as well… at least with Costco - there aren’t any lumper fees to be concerned with. The loads going there had better be the correct tie/hi or your load will be rejected…  if I can avoid Walmart , I usually will… Walmart thinks they own the world . Fk em’ 🇺🇸

  My brother drove 18 wheelers cross-country for years. He always tried to get me to join him but I hate driving so I never did. My hat's off to to anyone who can put up with it because, obviously, we need you out there. I remember my brother telling me he just left a truck and full trailer in a yard when they refused to pay him.

  From YYZ.  many truck drivers thinks if they become an owner operator, they are in business for themselves. That might be true in a narrow sense with a mind usually of lower IQ,  but many owner operators are more tightly controlled than company drivers and they , unlike company drivers, cannot just quit . The fragmentation of so many owner operator plays right into the big company's hands and enable the time honored technique of divide and conqueror. You have no clout being separated To keep this charade going, large companies been BSing the public for 4+ decade about driver shortages, the only way it will work is the refusal get to a point where the big companies cannot move their goods. Of course some will always be moved because there are always bottom feeders that are too ignorant to do the math , or simply need some cash flow, even when they lose money. That is not habit forming.
