Not all bamboo is invasive. There are 2 types of Bamboo: 1. Running bamboo (the invasive type) 2. Clumping bamboo (the non-invasive type). Know what you buy.

Due to those 'natural oils' Eucalyptus is a fire hazard in Southern California.

Black locust sends runners, that pop up everywhere unless kept trimed, so are invasive. I know from experience.

I planted both Black Locust and white Rose of Sharon around my property maybe 20 years ago, and now my home is invisible to passersby, which is exactly what I was going for!

We loved our privacy barrier of Leyland cypress! Within a 5 years, we had complete privacy from our back neighbors. They're easy to grow and are beautiful, too.

Warning ⚠️: Don’t plant Black Locusts anywhere near livestock, they are poisonous and can kill or paralyze your grazing animals.

I have several Rose of Sharon, and they do everything you said. Last summer, one that was transplanted began growing pink and blue flowers on the same bush! Filling up more areas with them so that I have less grass to mow.
