  I worked at an organic nursery for like 5 years, I got you. The control pot probably wasn’t growing well because the potting soil was not nutrient rich enough to sustain the arugula’s growth. A lot of potting soils are formulated to be bases to which you add fertilizers and other substrate that is suitable for the kind of plant you’re trying to grow. Also leafy greens like arugula get reedy and bitter if left to grow too long, or grown in too-hot conditions, that is most likely the reason the 10% arugula didn’t taste very good. If you wanted to try this again, I think it would be fun to try with potatoes because those fuckers will put down roots in pretty much anything.

  about ten years ago, my family tried growing a little garden in our back yard. One of the only things that grew well was the arugula. HOWEVER, we found out come dinnertime (when my poor mother made 100% arugula salads) that aged arugula is one of the most bitter things we'd ever eaten. The key is the purple tint. The purple leaves had an "aggressive" aftertaste, and taste 1000000% different than baby arugula leaves. So, all i'm saying is maybe the couple extra weeks Ted gave were the biggest factor in the taste.

  You could press the grease or render  it out of the soil. Maybe then you could get Less grease percent for dirt

  As someone with a science degree... this isn't a. bad approach to experimentation or research at all. In fact, having a quote-unquote 'negative' outcome is still an outcome and answer to the hypothetical. To take the little output that was had with the control and first mix and switch the question to 'how much specifically in this range will work' is a completely valid approach to research and is often how it goes. Well done!

  Plant person here. The reason behind the disparity between the 15% soil and the 20% soil is due to the fact that plants cannot comprehend odd numbers, and thus will only sprout in nice round even conditions

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EityXW46bbw&amp;t=1146">19:06</a> The most likely reason that the control didn’t grow as much was because either there wasn’t enough nutrients or there were too many seedlings competing for said nutrients whereas the 10% had less seedlings sprouting.
