Be extremely cautious of someone who answers the door before you even knock on it.

The way he gets into his face and just says "we who?" twice... it's just perfect. I've honestly never seen Denzel act badly.

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWSHsRBP88Y&t=118">1:58</a> The way Denzel steps out into the hallway to diminish any dominance the other guy felt is pure genius.

both characters are professionals at telling lies, manipulating, playing head games, etc...and trying to figure the other out. Its like they're both playing psychological chess with each other. Brilliant acting by both of them

Brilliant scene. Denzel even says " 'we' didn't have a reservation, how did you find me?". Keeping his story or alibi intact of meeting his date there

One thing I always loved about this scene is how Nikolai leaves at the end in a somewhat hurried fashion. Not that he's truly afraid, but his gait and demeanor implies that his encounter with McCall unsettled him a little. It correlates with his verbal assessment later in the car: "everything about him is <i>wrong."</i> It says that even he wasn't expecting to find a cold, calculating, fearless avatar of death when he knocked on that door.

Best part is how he says "I payed cash, 'WE' didn't have a reservation" he still continues with the lie.

It's brilliant acting when Robert knows the truth and asks "we who" and instead of standing still he walks up to the guy, face to face and unafraid
