Update 3/23/2026: Ted Nichols has sadly passed away at the age of 97.

I tried my best to contact him throughout the years and even while making this video, but to no avail. As far as I know, his last public interview was in 2013, and I can only hope that he knew how much people loved his music. He will be sorely missed.

If I refer to him as alive in this documentary, please understand that it was completed 4 years ago.

Rest in Peace.

The musical underscore of "Top Cat" had a Gershwin-like quality to it.

I am still loving this Emmy-worthy documentary after 1 year. And it always gets me singing:
"Make your hubby happy.
Keep your hubby happy.
When he's a little chubby,
He's a happy pappy.
With Rockenschpeel!"

Excellent CartoonCade. I am playing in the studio orchestra on the scoring sessions for some of the Hanna-Barbera cartoons, 1969-1971. I played flute, piccolo, clarinet and alto sax on "Dastardley and Muttley And Their Flying Machines", "The Perils Of Penelope Pitstop", "Harlem Globe Terotters"., Josie and the Pussy Cats", "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?" and "Help...It's The Hair Bear Bunch". I was studying with composer Ted Nichols for those years, and he let me write come cues for Harlem Globe Trotters.

I cannot tell you how much I love Hoyt Curtin's work. I was fortunate enough to buy Hanna-Barbera Pic-a-Nic Basket when it was first released and spent countless hours listening to those tracks. I later tracked down the Soundtrack to Battle of the Planets which was also done by Hoyt and equally amazing. Nice job on the video.
