I respect any person that says they do not know when they really don't know.

Just know that whatever God revealed to us is sufficient at this point of time and we are accountable for that he revealed to us

It seems to me that jealousy almost always plays a role in sin. What say you all?

It's so nice to hear a Pastor say "I don't know"! So many pastors have too much "pride" to say that...
Wise words from a wise man... Obviously enlightened by The Holy Spirit! All glory to The Most High God!
Let your heart not be troubled. God's plan is invaluable, and He is in TOTAL CONTROL!
Keep the faith and keep fighting the good fight!
God bless and take care...

My answer to this, "The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.
Deuteronomy 29:29 ESV

I'm not that familiar with John Piper but from what I've heard so far, i'm impressed with his humility and honesty.

Here’s my thoughts on matter. The original Sin was born from taking something that is good in its original form but when one delves to much of something even if it’s good originaly then that good become evil.

For example wanting to provide for your family because you love them- good

Robbing a bank in hoping to provide them a good life and education. - good now evil

Satan may have wanted to attain power and wealth which Itself may not be a bad thing. But when his desire for power makes him want to equal God his actions become sinful

I’ve thought about this question before as well. My only logical answer I could think of is that god also tested his angels in heaven by allowing them to know what the opposite of good was. Not by anyone’s actions but just the knowledge of it in their mind. God never has sinned but I’ve always thought that maybe he just allowed them to know what evil is so that they could be tested by having a free will choice to choose if they ever wanted to commit any of it.
