Kate Bush creates enormous emotion without oversinging or overcrowding the arrangement. What affected you most—the vocal phrasing, the piano, the dynamic build, or the meaning of the song?

▶ Continue with my reaction to Kate Bush’s The Ninth Wave:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqaxrmdYEO0

I always thought of it as hopeful, and respectful. She acknowledges the woman and the man. It's complimentary to all humanity. Great job, brother!

Her voice is incredibly soothing. Through very clever arrangement she can turn it into pain and terror at will, but too late - your already trapped.

She's done it over and over again. A very special artist. Thanks for another listen and for your thoughts.

The scene in "She's Having a Baby" is sooo powerful and emotional, even more than this video.

And this song has been used in The Handmaid's Tale, s02e01 in one of the most haunting scenes, in fact the very dramatic opening scene. Chills.

Thank you for your lovely reaction.

The nurse was smiling, implying that there was good news. I always read his face as still in panic mode, and not able to understand that the news was good.
