I think Jay has grossly underestimated how society and celebrity has changed since he was at the top. The veil isn't only thin but it's pretty much gone. Gone are the days where we take the word of a celebrity as bible or give them the benefit of the doubt.

He felt like politics were a part of an oppressive system and wanted no part of it in 2016. I can only imagine that Trump winning that election changed his mind seeing how he voted in the next two elections after that.

I felt the evil lurking when I saw him on Karen Hunter Show. The things he was saying and the humility he displayed made me know he’s a threat to the status quo. Reading the Autobiography of Malcom X sparked his activism. Let that marinate.
