The timing of this video is coincidental with a realization I had two weeks ago...

I'm a former MTB coach for an advocacy group in the PNW and I taught for about 5 seasons. We hammered "bike/body separation" in our fundamentals classes and I even started self talking it on my own rides for years. Then while watching shorts of the pros ripping I started looking closer and I realized...that is SOOOO not how they corner at speed. I watched their posture and realized that their head, their hips, and their knees all pointed where they wanted to go...regardless of bike lean. Yes, the bike was eventually leaned into the corner, but it wasn't the critical movement, the body position was. Next ride I went on, I tried to emulate their body posturing and it was a GAME GHANGER.

I think the bike/body separation is great for people new to the sport because it does teach a safe controlled way to corner under most conditions. But for rapidly advancing intermediates to advanced riders, the Head Hips Knees or "HHK" as I'm going to start calling it is a far better cornering technique.

Hi, one of your three female watchers here. I'm a pole dancer getting into mountain biking and I appreciate the hip mobility training I have done translates to cornering skills. Thank you for making these videos.

I came across this video yesterday. I did some 90 90 exercises, rode today. Holy $#!+. This definitely works.

I don’t know how this channel it’s bigger but I am now a subscriber.

I only do XC (beginner/novice racing), my descending times can definitely be better. With this technique my turning and speeds are already better.

Also even pedaling through turns with the technique helps keep your momentum.

THANK YOU!!!!

This really comes at the right moment. Just after yesterday's ride I said to my friends I feel I struck the right amount of fitness and it's time to work on mobility.
Good stuff

Moving femer on outside leg towards the top tube and pointing femer in the direction you want to go vs where the bike is going. Great video

I used the hip and knee aiming tip this week and got a PR on one of my local trails that I hadn't even ridden yet this year!

I really appreciated the 90-90 switch floor exercises. I’ve wondered how riders get into those positions while riding, and never knew how to make my body do it or how it should feel. I’ve never seen instruction include that before.

Great video. I appreciate the way you broke it down into progression steps. Talking about opening up the hips, then how to wait the pedals, etc... I also really appreciate you showing the body movements on flat ground in slow motion so you can really see them. First showing in without the bike on the ground and then showing them on the bike but just riding in your driveway. That's much better than just seeing somebody do it at full speed out on the trail. Thanks for great video.

You should make a good video on jumping...

I feel like I've been taught 2 completely different jump techniques, involves compressing the bike at the top of the jump... And then pumping it as you go off the jump. ( I guess this one would be more like having a mini Bunny Hop at the top of the)

The second technique involves pulling the handlebars back towards your hips as you go off the jump, and almost having the bike be more vertical ( in like a statue position. )

A video showing both techniques and the pros and cons of each would be awesome!

Maybe you already have a good video like this ?? Much thanks for your contributions!

I'm making good progress with this method over the last few weeks. I saw a video of a pro road biker who is super fast descending and he reminded me of a ferret or a goose....or kind of like a snake because he could lead the bike with his head and neck while doing a low hinge. I tried cornering some super steep berms at a bike park visualizing and it got me through some tight ones without touching my brakes. What I didn't realize was that doing that caused me to use my knees to push into the inside corners to follow my head.
