  So, there&apos;s a reason I love Episode 3. The sword play and Jedi powers are the best they&apos;ve ever been, and the Empire wins, for dedades. Its the best of the 12 Star Wars movies, and no one gives it a chance.<br>There&apos;s a reason Infinity War is arguably the better Marvel Movie. Endgame is great, but Thanos won in Infinity war. There&apos;s a reason that Episode 3, Empire Strikes Back, Infinity War, Gwen Stacy&apos;s Death (and Garfield&apos;s redemption in No Way Home), and many others are THE BEST examples of excellent writing. <br><br>Its not just subverting expectations. Cuz if you make this the norm, that would suck. Its the fact that Heroes need to fail. Like permanently sometimes. There are still lasting effects in the MCU from Infinity War. That&apos;s good writing. They&apos;ve been scrambling ever since to try and top it instead of walking away gracefully. <br><br>Write good stories instead of thinking about actors, schedules, tie ins, monetization, advertising, toy sales, and everything else besides the story.

  Why should they TRY to top ENDGAME? It doesn&apos;t matter weather they do or not. It&apos;s about trying to entertain us. And I AM entertained.

  Gotta disagree about the Smile movies. For me, anyway, the entire movie is about the perceived, and in too many cases very real, drive, push, and need to put on a happy face. People weren&apos;t, until rather recently, allowed to actually be &apos;down&apos;, or &apos;sad&apos;, or &apos;angry&apos;, or &apos;lost&apos;. The smile that was expected to be there for too many of us felt literally plastered on. So too with Smile. Smiling unto death, death at the hands of something no one else could see, recognize, or manage unless they&apos;d been through it as well. And the delusion itself of being forced to show &apos;happy&apos; also contributing to wildly divergent mentality and ideation. So, when they both were killed by the ... demon? entity? monster? pent-up, repressed feelings?, it truly brought it full circle. Smile showed that toxic positivity doesn&apos;t lead to &apos;happy outcomes&apos;. At all. So, while the deaths at the end were downers, to be sure, they were absolutely earned, and meaningful.

  So... Gone Girl. Evil wins because good (or at least the police so them being good is debatable) are dumb.
