Left after fifty years, empty handed at seventy-one but I couldn't be happier. It's worth it just to be free of him. He spent EVERYTHING. He earned BIG money and didn't want to leave it to me if he died first, so he made sure there was none to fight over. I live on old age, a subsidy and a Canada pension. Left everything behind and share an apartment with a friend paying half the cost of everything. I have no vehicle, no debt but am free!! Money was always what we fought over and I didn't save. I was stupid not to. I guess I never planned to fail at marriage but there came a time I learned about narcissism and had had more than enough of my life ruined and wasted on him. I love living frugally cause I always have and it's a challenge. Thanks for all the advice you give. I was jealous listening to how your first husband took care of you financially before he passed away. He was a good man!!

You're not stupid, you're not at fault, you believe in the good in people, you have a large capacity to love, and you want to share love. You were designed this way and it's not a bad thing. We're to be innocent like children and have a wonder and curiosity like children, and to love purely like a child. You can forgive yourself now, and now you can spot red flags before things get too far.
