  Mr. B. Here 🍩☕️👀😎👍!  At 74 I have own a few home and have learned many way to help the breath , now the Mrs., and I are giving up our 6 year home for a 1953 Ranch, I have never been a fan of the style but after watching this video and seeing items that can help with issues, this has been the most informative & interesting video I have found. I built a shed, not the big box store shed-my shed had a two foot over hang, the building never got wet & the going kept the building dry. Lesson learned your video pointed that out, so thank you for your input & information it’s nice to know I’ve been on the right track. 🍩☕️👀😎👍——👏👏👏

  I’m so glad I live in a passive solar, non-mechanical home. We do not have a furnace. We have solar to generate electricity. Our gas bill is less than $200 annually - just to run the stove. More people should build homes like this.

  My wife and I were in Mexico City for the World Cup playoffs in July.  Everything is built from brick, stone, steel-reinforced concrete, tile and metal roofs.  Many can't afford AC, so they open windows and run ceiling fans.  Some of their original buildings have withstood 400 yrs of weathering and earthquakes.  We MUST design better structures and stop building with wooden sticks and OSB mush board!

  While I appreciate the historical information in this video, viewers need to be extremely careful: unless you plan to run a purely passive, breathable home with zero mechanical climate control, mixing breathable historical moisture methods with modern HVAC or dehumidifiers will burn out your equipment and cause severe structural problems. If you plan to adopt any of these older building patterns alongside modern mechanical systems, you must understand how they interact.<br><br>There is a reason modern homes moved away from these older mechanisms—we mixed them in the past and already discovered the flaws. Just because something worked for centuries doesn&apos;t inherently make it good for a modern house, just as something being modern doesn&apos;t automatically make it better. They are simply two completely different engineering philosophies that do not mix.<br><br>Also, a critical safety warning regarding the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DT33g7jsMpQ&amp;t=780">13:00</a> mark:<br>- Quicklime (calcium oxide) should never be used openly like this. It reacts aggressively with moisture and creates extreme exothermic heat that can cause severe chemical burns, crack containers, or even spark a fire.<br><br>If you are looking for safer DIY moisture alternatives, use these instead:<br>- Hydrated lime (calcium hydroxide): This is &quot;slaked&quot; lime, meaning it has already reacted with water and will not cause a dangerous, heat-generating chemical reaction.<br>- Calcium chloride: The active ingredient found in commercial absorbers like DampRid. It is highly effective, inexpensive, and completely non-combustible.
