The "man in the moon" is a rabbit in Japanese folk tales. That was a cultural reference at the end.

So the spinning turtle is baby Gamera. Gamera is a famous Kaiju series, rivaling Godzilla and made by a different company. Early Gamera was slightly more child focused, and a lot of fun to watch.
Most of the early Gamera films were featured on the show Mystery Science Theater 3000. If you wanted to watch a long form 90s comedy/SciFi series that is still popular today for watch alongs, I would love that.

BunnyTails - taking the Rabitt gang to the MOON, is a classic Japanese trope of the Rabbit on the moon , making rice cakes (MOCHI).

When somebody does a glowy boom boom with their Ki, it's called a Ki or energy wave, and it's more or less named after this attack.

Kamehameha Wave is a bit redundant since it's saying "wave" twice, so it's a little weird they call it that here, but Kamehameha itself translates to "Turtle Destruction Wave".

For context, the reason why Goku seems to keep learning new powers so quickly is because this entire starting story arc is a retelling of Journey to the West. Goku is the Monkey King (sometimes translated as Son Goku), who was known for incredible feats of strength and power, learned more powers as the plot demanded, and was eventually given an exploitable weakness to keep him in line. Bulma's the monk Tripitaka, a non-combatant on a quest who needs various companions to him safe. Oolong is Pigsy, a pig-shaped demon who is VERY distracted by his base desires.

After this, the only thing that gets kept is that Goku keeps getting insanely stronger.
