PS3 Game Prices Are EXPLODING… I Knew This Was Coming!

PS3 game prices are going through the roof! 📈 But what is actually happening to the PlayStation 3 collecting market in the UK? I've been banging on for a LONG time about the PS3 becoming one of the next big systems for retro game collectors — and it looks like it's finally happening. With renewed interest in PlayStation 3 collecting, growing demand for physical PS3 games, discussion surrounding the future of the PS3 digital store and more gamers rediscovering this incredible generation, some PS3 game prices have risen dramatically. So I decided to put it to the test using my OWN PS3 game collection. I've been seriously collecting PlayStation 3 games for over two years, picking up games from CeX, retro game shops and online sellers while PS3 collecting was still relatively cheap. For this video I've selected 20 PS3 games from my collection and compared what I originally paid with the current CeX UK prices. And some of the differences are absolutely ridiculous! We're talking about games including Alice: Madness Returns, Folklore, Afro Samurai, DuckTales Remastered, Eternal Sonata, Catherine, Dragon's Crown, Shadows of the Damned, Golden Axe: Beast Rider, Driver: San Francisco, Brutal Legend and plenty more. Some have doubled in price. Some have tripled. And one particular PS3 game that cost me next to nothing has seen an absolutely HUGE increase! So why are PS3 game prices increasing? Is the PlayStation 3 finally becoming properly retro and collectible? Are collectors moving onto PS3 after systems such as the PS2, Nintendo GameCube and Xbox 360? Is the renewed attention surrounding the PS3 digital store pushing more gamers towards physical PS3 games? Or are we simply witnessing another retro gaming price bubble fuelled by nostalgia, FOMO and the current popularity of PS3 collecting? We'll also look at whether it's still a good time to start collecting PS3 games, whether there are bargains left to find at CeX and how much the games I bought just a couple of years ago would cost me to replace today.
