Holy cow, just when I thought that you couldn't come up with anything else that could possibly surprise me, you bring home this!

Those pill shaped buttons on the CD player section remind me so much of the ones that GE frequently used on some of their clock radios and other small electronics at the time, I have one of their Spacemaker under cabinet units which has very similar looking controls on it. It's a style I really love, it's a shame it didn't really stick around for all that much time!

That is such a cool entertainment system man, I love how many different options it gives you for enjoying multiple types of media. I would have totally rocked that 27AVR in my own home back in the day (or even today!). Congrats on the successful repair of the CD player as well! Fantastic stuff as always my friend!

Amazing what you can find at estate sales. About 10 years ago I was at one and there was a 1981 Sony Betamax player with remote in just PERFECT condition. Just sitting on top of an old console TV, unloved and unwanted. Came with 3 cassettes, all for 10 bucks. Got it home and it worked great, didn't even have to replace the belts (I suspect they had been replaced at least once, so this thing was very much loved). Nothing more fun than going out scavenger hunting and finding super cool stuff like that.

Back when items were built to last it could be worked on by somebody. Ever since the digital era of tvs back when the first flat screen plasma TV's were first coming out was the beginning of the throwaway tv sets. Nobody fixes tvs anymore unfortunately. A guy I knew, that's passed away now, used to own/run a tv/stereo, cb radio, VCR repair shop. I went to ask him about getting a job back in around 2003-2005 timeframe and he said I was about 5 years too late to start learning how to work on tvs and stuff. He said that in the next few years, it'll be a dead industry working on stuff like this and he was right. His business was in a strip mall and now his location is a dry cleaners place.
