  I was taking a college level class in connection with obtaining my teaching certification in 2002. I don't recall how the subject of 9/11 came up but in the course of the conversation one of my classmates commented that her mom was the flight attendant who called Madeline Sweeny the night before and asked her to fill in because she was sick. I cannot imagine the grief, the "survivor's guilt" she had to live with.

  Don't forget Rick Rescorla. He designed an evacuation plan for Morgan Stanley before 9/11 because he had a feeling they would need it. He could have gotten out, but he stayed to try to help others. That's how he was wired. He was a British paratrooper in his youth. He came to the U.S. and joined the Army. He fought in the Ia Drang Valley with Hal Moore. He was a remarkable man. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

  This brought back that feeling we had. The surreal feeling of a beautiful day, but death and sadness. The confusion, rumors and the feeling of dread. What a horrible, sad day.

  I remember that California morning during my Senior year.   Ive alway woken myself up for school since 6th grade, but that morning my father woke me up telling me turn on the TV after the first tower.  My 12th grade Government/Economics teacher daughter worked at the Pentagon as well and was very distraught and emotional until she found out her daughter was unharmed.

  Very few saw the first plane hit, but due to watching what happened with the first plane, we all witnessed the second plane hit. We were all speechless... Everyone was glued to the TV.

  On this day I was driving to work in my car with the radio on listen to this unfold but unaware of the gravity of what was happening until that night when I got home &amp; seen these horrifying films , it will stay with me forever .

  Hearing about this tragedy always brings me to tears. I was only 5 but I remember seeing it on tv and everyone around me crying or praying.
