As an Aussie, it's no wonder this was handeled poorly by the Police. Our prime minister in 1967 straight up took a swim in the sea near Portsea, Victoria and his body has never been recovered. Our. Own. PM.

Corruption in the Australian police force would absolutely have played a role, I don’t know if non-Australians know JUST how corrupt the police and judicial system were during this time. Honestly the investigation makes the narcotic dealers taking the boat the most plausible theory.

It’s horrible that the families never got the investigation and answers they deserved. If anyone tried to reopen this case today I bet they’d find every little bit of evidence conveniently missing without explanation, almost certainly so in regards to dental records on that unidentified corpse.

 Barely: listen to this craziness!
All Aussies in the comments section: yeah we know, every unsolved mystery in Australia is due to Police and Government corruption.

It never fails to amaze me how many people die by suicide with their hands bound or disappear under strange circumstances that are ignored by law enforcement. Truly unbelievable that this trend continues to this day across the world.

Ah, yes. The old "Two bullets to the back of the head, arms tied behind back, tied to a concrete cinderblock on the bottom of a river" suicide method. Truly, the most traditional method of taking one's own life.

Never call a boat “unsinkable.” We’ve had too many problems as a result.

"The victim was stabbed in the back and stuffed into a suitcase which was then thrown from a cliff. Clearly this was a suicide."

I think that coroner was in somebody's pocket for sure.

I’ve never heard of a more obvious case of corruption than that Robby case. He saw a drug drop and was scared of a mafia group killing him and was then found weighed down with bricks in the water with his hands bound behind him. I’ve not seen a more stereotypical mafia killing than that. How that coroner got away with that is beyond me. That leads me to believe the narcotics theory is almost certainly true considering all the facts around this case. Additionally the Australians commenting on their police’s corruption makes me even more confident in the theory. This shit is wild!

Not the first time corrupt officials have conspired with drug traffickers.

And, how in hell did that kid kill himself by locking his own hands behind his back? That’s a flagrant, direct and obvious lie. This guy Hand has a warped soul.

That poor kid. I can't imagine how terrified and hopeless he must have felt when a group of monsters pretending to be human tied concrete to him and threw him into a river to drown. It's heartbreaking, and even worse that no one involved will ever get caught.

This is ridiculous. I contributed to this case as much as that detective and I didn't receive an official compliment
