  I sleep amazingly in a tent. Its unironically some of my best sleeping by a mile, most nights. I only use a pad. I think the biggest thing is site selection and the fact im in supreme wilderness middle of nowhere. No one around for at least 5 miles when I camp. I also tend to bring an extra blanket as a luxury item when I backcountry so I can modulate the sleep system earlier in the middle of the night.

  We use hammock on board navy ships for a quick nap they would just rock you to sleep, however I was never able to sleep through the night with a hammock because I’m a stomach/side sleeper.

  I applaud the hammock folks.<br>They are truly committed.<br>As a satisfied tenter for decades, a blizzard or sideways rain with no trees is a non-issue.<br>The hammock crew somehow has that handled... 😮 👍🏻

  Good video! &nbsp;Dinty Moore here, also a fan of Shug. &nbsp;In 2025 completed an AT thru hike (awesome experience!). &nbsp;Slept 1st 2 mo &amp; last mo in a hammock &nbsp;&amp; the middle months on the ground in an X-mid Pro. &nbsp;Loved both setups, but as a side sleeper the hammock was hard on my shoulders. &nbsp;Experienced all the benifits you laid out in the hammock &amp; it much easier to stay warm (often too warm) with a good underquilt. &nbsp;With a tarp with doors, you&apos;ll also have a huge amount of living space vs. a tent.

  About a month ago I took my hammock up to Chilnualna Falls for a day hike. I took a 30 minute nap by the creek and it was the most refreshing sleep I think I’ve ever had in my entire life (I’m 40).<br>I was out within 30 seconds of laying down. I have a 3 night trip coming up in July and I’m really considering swapping out my tent for a hammock.
