Jarrett, thank you. I see a lot of folks camping under tarps in the rain but they never collect rain water, either for cooking or drinking. Thanks. And also for "making sure" your fire was out before you left, even though it had rained. I just turned 73 and don't tent camp anymore, I camp out of my truck and I have a teardrop camper for longer trips. Really enjoyed your video. Keep it up!!! Uncle Dave

Looked like a very comfortable night's camp. My last night under a tarp is nearly 30 years ago. I'd taken the Cog Rail up Pike's Peak to Mountainview. Got off there and hiked to Barr Camp. Then took the trail around the mountain into South Fork French Creek. Followed it up into the Bottomless Pit where there was a stand of trees just shy of 12,000 feet. That night a storm came in but I was warm and dry. I lay a Space Blanket on the ground up against a large old fallen tree. My Thermarest on top of that. Then my lightweight backpacker's tarp over the tree trunk, tied off to stubs of branches and staked to the ground. After eating my dinner I snuggled in to read *"Terra Incognita: Travels in Antarctica<br>by Sara Wheeler"* . The storm howled and pounded with rain and lightning for several hours. Sometime during the night it calmed and turned to a light fluffy snow. I awoke around 2AM to a clearing sky, a few inches of fresh powder snow and a mist about a foot deep just cascading down the mountain. Like standing with your feet obscured by clouds. I stayed up and just watched it in wonder for over an hour before getting back into my tarp shelter and going back to sleep. The snow melted quickly in the morning as I hiked back to Barr Camp. Fourth of July, 1998. Paid for the dinner a bunk room berth at Barr Camp. With the other hikers and camp hosts watched the fireworks over Colorado Springs and Manitou from a high rock near the camp. There have been other nights of camping light, camping simple. But that one up in the Bottomless Pit of Pikes Peak is my favorite memory.
