  A lot of times I’ll check where the snare is sitting in the mix and make sure the vocal sits a bit on top of that. Two important elements in a modern production.

  before even reaching for a compressor it&apos;s really helpful to use clip gain to bring down the signal on individual sounds or words that are poking out a ton so that the compressor doesn&apos;t have to work as hard

  Excellent! &nbsp;The part about compression is a master class all to itself. &nbsp;The remainder is entirely helpful. &nbsp;I’ve been struggling and reading seemingly contradictory information. &nbsp;This all makes sense and is as practical as can be. &nbsp;And I gotta say, Colin, you have the gift of making audio concepts understandable (much like SynAudCon) and you are articlulate. &nbsp;No slang, no modernspeak, just plain English. &nbsp;Thank you for your work to further the understanding of audio concepts, fundamental as well as advanced.

  I like to send all my instruments to an instrument bus then put the “waves Curves Resolve plug in on the instrument bus and side chain the vocals to it. The plug in allows me to bring the vocals forward in the mix 🤘😝
