  I want a boots on the ground, military incursion type of feeling in Halo… retain the general gameplay and sandbox feel, but strong, intense encounter design, where the music enhances the experience. To me that is now Combat Evolved felt in 2001, and that should be “dressed up” and expanded to the current day standard.

  They should start with The Fall of Reach, when Chief and Blue team had been fighting human insurgents and the Covenant for THIRTY YEARS before Chief was paired with Cortana.

  Halo 3 was where the bungie timeline ended, before 343 took over, and is still considered one of the greatest games of all time. If they’re going to reboot, they should start where 3 left off. Forget the 343 continuity. A lot of Halo fans don’t like where they took the story and prefer to omit it all from the canon.

  What they should do, in my opinion, is create a campaign where we start as our own, new spartan before the covenant war. Follow the book Fall of Reach where we control a young &quot;recruit&quot; and are trained to take on the Insurrectionists, the whole reason the Spartans were created. <br><br>We could get a grounded military experience of going through the missions, training with ODST, earning our armor, really getting to experience what it was that shaped the Spartans before the Covenant appeared. Then we get into the meat and potatoes of it all when the first contact with the Covenant occurs. <br><br>There could even be incentives to completing the campaign to get special armor for your multiplayer character. You could even introduce minor RPG elements where your Spartan can have different armor pieces that would give you different advantages throughout your campaign career.

  I had this dream 12 years ago that Halo went on a PS5 cover with the Activision logo on it. And it was the best Halo by far. In 2019 I had a dream playing all the Covenant species and played crossplay multiplayer. That to me ends the franchise on a high note. And also it could be the game that lands on every platform including PS5, Switch 2, I.OS and Epic games store including Steam.

  The whole situation sucks, honestly. I get the desire for a fresh start, but they can&apos;t just look at Infinite&apos;s cliffhanger ending and shrug as they walk off. Just have Activision make a smaller sized game like ODST or Reach to wrap up Chief&apos;s story in order to give fans and Steve Downs and Jen Taylor the out they deserve and then move on to something new. An open ended ending is better than a loaded cliffhanger. And if xbox truly wanted to keep Chief around they could just use him in the novels only. I&apos;m ready for new Halo stories to be told, but I&apos;m gonna need some closer for the one that&apos;s just been left hanging first.
