Ultimate working class upbringing -‘we used to sit around the piano…’<br>Lived off the bank of Mum and Dad. There is no bank of Mum and Dad when you’re working class… the household doesn’t work if you don’t contribute to it.

The idea that someone who’s parents own multiple houses could think of themself as working class is crazy to me

The first half of this video really resonated with me and I found it quite engaging but then they got onto the part where the problems need a solution and the author became incredibly non-commital and keen to dodge the fact that wealth redistribution is the only solution. Perhaps because it sounds like she comes from a wealthy family and would stand to lose out from a redistribution of wealth... Ash not really providing much pushback here either considering she's a self proclaimed communist

It’s interesting how we only hear the middle classes being concerned with these issues when it starts affecting them.

So basically it was never about boomers having all the money and stealing the millennials future, it was always about rich people having all the money and everyone else getting nothing. I don't have parents with three houses buying me stuff. Do any of you?

Middle Class: Hey guys, is it me or is it getting really hard to afford to live? <br><br>Working Class: (pile of unresponsive black mould ridden corpses, just eat bags and eviction notices)<br><br>Middle Class: Guys?!

"A huge distrust of ideology"<br>This is ridiculous. If you don't have an ideology then your only ideology is your interests so you're an opportunist so actually we should have distrust in you

I often find topics like this really hard to listen to and visualise. I understand it all to be truthful but it seems so distant from my reality of generational breadline poverty that it seems otherworldly. I will never get an inheritance, my parents and their parents never got an inheritance, I will never own a home and I've had to watch as year after year opportunities have been stolen from my region and offered to places further and further south and then homes in my area again taken by gentrification. It's left me with this hard to deal with feeling that the world is only for Londoners. This isn't is dissuade anyone from talking about the topics in this video but just to share a perspective that to a great deal of people in the north of this country its Martian.

I know home ownership is a massive discussion, and that being a symbol of having done well etc. <br><br>But my brother (at the age of 29) hasn’t been able to afford to rent until… well this month. He’s lived with my mother for years, alongside his daughter, sharing a room. And this is in the South Wales Valleys, where rents are waaaaay lower than London. <br><br>So yes, there is the whole conversation about being able to afford a property, but there is a whole other world also where people can’t even afford to rent, buy a car etc etc. It feels like another world!

I have no idea why she's so reluctant to endorse council housing. It's the only way my mother could afford to bring me and my brother up on disability benefits alone.
