Once SoDak begins to make her exit I like to imagine Lee thinking something along the lines of “I’m not locked in here with them, they’re locked in here with me!”

"Stand aside. I'm coming through." Might be the baddest quote of WWII

Admiral Lee was the most underrated flag officer in the United States Navy. He was a big believer in training, learning about the jobs his technicians and sailors had to do. Unfortunately, he exhausted himself, and was a heavy smoker leading to a heart attack while in Casio Bay, ME.

My brother, Robert, was an officer aboard the USS Preston (DD 379); he survived its sinking on 14 Nov 1942.

God, if they only made a historic epic about Lee and Washington.

Regarding this amazing and wonderful video. A minor correction: Willis Lee was not at the surrender ceremony on Sept. 2, 1945. He died of a heart attack in Portland, Maine, on August 25, 1945. The Japanese emperor had surrendered on Japanese radio on August 15, 1945. Lee had transfered to the East Coast of the United States in May of 45. At the time of Lee's death he was heading up a special program to evaluate the best ways to combat Kamikaze attacks. What an amazing man he was.

The lives of many American sailors would have been saved had every officer mastered radar fire control like Admiral Lee did.

I'm just a listener here but how proud is the this team of Capt. Toti's new position? I keep repeating myself in different episodes about how lucky we are to have him on this channel. I'm sure he'll make us all even prouder with his achievements. The best trio for ww2 pacific theater hands down.

Gentlemen this is the third or fourth time I’ve watched this segment.
My absolute favorite.
I bought the biography of Admiral Lee and it is a fantastic read.
I was on the Army pistol team for four years and a lifetime rifle and shotgun hunter.
If I could go back in time I would love to sit in with the “gun club” of Lee.
