  Inflating tires far above the pressure recommended by the vehicle manufacturer is often promoted as a smart way to reduce fuel consumption and tire wear, but this argument ignores important trade-offs. Excessive pressure makes the tire much stiffer, transmitting more impacts and vibration to the suspension and chassis, which increases long-term stress on vehicle mechanical and electronic components. The modest gains in rolling resistance and fuel economy rarely justify these disadvantages. If I lived in Germany, where asphalt quality is exceptionally smooth and consistent, I might consider running tire pressure slightly above the recommended value; however, in countries with rougher roads, such as Brazil, sticking to the manufacturer’s specification is generally the more sensible choice.<br><br>CHECK YOUR TIRE PRESSURE ONCE A WEEK!

  You can go up some, but not too much. You lose grip in rain or snow.

  High tyre pressure (overinflation) causes a rough, bouncy ride, reduced traction, and accelerated wear on the center of the tread. Tires become rigid, increasing the risk of damage from potholes, poor handling, and a higher likelihood of blowouts, as less of the tyre surface contacts the road.

  You can tell if your tyre pressure is correct from how the tread is wearing, too high; wear in the middle, too low; wear at each side. After several puncture companies stuffed up the tracking adjustment on my Nissan Terrano, I set it myself based on the tread condition. I never had to do it again.

  Door sticker +3 psi (35psi) work well for my small hatchback, as I don’t drive off road. Save a bit of petrol without too bumpy, tires wear evenly as well.

  When driving cars ...i always go with the worst case scenario ....so i follow the manufactures recommended settings.

  I have always followed the pressure on door jamb,tyres have lasted 60000 to 70000km

  I&apos;ve been keeping tyre pressure at 40 psi from 32 psi mentioned on the door. I love the feel, steering is smoother, can go over massive speedbumps in my country, gear shift feels smoother from 1st to 2nd and the opposite as well. I love the stiffness.

  Just look at the tire psi on the driver door jamb and when you pump air, Put +4. &nbsp;If it&apos;s 30, put 34.
