When video games started being made for shareholders instead of the players, that's when the downward spiral started.

It pleases me to see that people are waking up, that people are realizing we are CUSTOMERS not just consumers. And we ultimately have the power to say no by not buying a product. This is a deserved crash, a crash brought on by greed and exploitation.

So no one else has noticed, wats happening with gaming, is happening in the film, tv and music industries?
Everything looks the same and sounds the same.
They are all copying each other, or copying whats already been done years ago.
Theres zero originality left.
Thats why gaming is swamped with remakes, remaster, sequels and prequels.
Spending hundreds of millions on games that flop.
While smaller studios are wiping the floor with them, on tiny budgets!

The crash has been needed for like a decade. There's so much bloat in the industry. So many people just pushing out slop because they want money, not because they have an original idea for a fun game that they want to make.

This gamining corporate greed you speak of is in almost EVERY mega corps in the western world. They are a cancer now who is devouring our society. They need reigned in terribly badly.

The problem is that when the crash is really apparent for the masses, the executives, ceo, all your suits in the gaming industry will walk out with a golden parachute, and they will be replaced by those same people just younger when a recovery happens thus repeating the same cycle. The old saying is true, if you dont pay attention to history, your destiny to repeat it.

Love your videos Mug. Just a quick constructive criticism, the little descriptions you put when showing games you're talking about are one of my favorite things you do, but since you changed the design a few videos ago the descriptions are just way too small, it's really hard to see when watching on mobile. I often have to pause the video, go back and get way too close to the screen to be able to read it, maybe I'm misremembering but I don't remember that happening with the old design.
I'm not saying I hate the new design or anything, but if you could just make the captions a little bigger it would be great. Much love, keep making great videos <3

Videogames began to fail when salesmen became the bosses instead of gamers. Right now it's the same thing, wall street is what's hurting gaming the most.

It would be beautiful if all the potential devs, writers, artists, and musicians/audio technicians would just stop for a minute and realize that the reason why AAA and the industry is failing is because these studios and companies went public. Never liked the idea of gaming being a publicly traded market. The second investors got more and more involved in the late 90's the worse games have gotten over the years. Now these assholes even infiltrate indie trying to steal the last bastion of trust we have. Obviously there is a lot wrong with the industry but to me most of this wouldn't be an issue if companies and studios weren't so thirsty to cash in by going public and then taking the cash in exchange for the soul of the games they make.

22:40 - Research and data and research groups and all that keep on resulting in all these companies trying to do the same thing (like live services). And right now those kinds of research groups and all that are showing to the entire world that at the largest scale, they just tend to share the same marketing and hivemind logic. How? Look at the World Cup. Look at how many players have pink boots on. And this is because EVERY major company had research that said that "pink stands out the best against green, so if you want your boots to stand out and look unique, make them pink!" And then Nike and Adidas and New Balance and all these companies all went "Oh crap, that's what the marketing research says, we need to make our special World Cup line pink so we stand out!"... just like everyone else. And now pink is the most common color on the field and no one really stands out.
