  In 2003, Arsenal played Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Arsenal won 4-0 that day, with Henry scoring one goal and setting up 3 goals for Freddie Ljungberg. He was so incredible that day that, at full-time, the 40,000 Sunderland fans got up and gave Henry a standing ovation. <br><br>Years later, when Henry returned to Arsenal after Barca, they played Sunderland at the Stadium of Light again. When Henry got up off the bench to do a warm-up, the 40,000 Sunderland fans got up and gave Henry a standing ovation. He didn&apos;t know what was happening. He spoke about it later. 😂<br><br>In my 30+ years going to Sunderland matches, I&apos;ve never seen an opposition player given a standing ovation... let alone 2!<br><br>A commentator once said during a game, &quot;...It&apos;s like a grown man playing with the under-13s...&quot;. <br><br>That tells you everything about him. The man was incredible to watch. The entire UK fell in love with Thierry Henry. It was impossible not to love him. We were lucky to have him.<br><br> He&apos;s without doubt my favourite PL player of all time, and also one of my favourite people of all time. I always have time for Thierry Henry.<br><br>The highlights of that match are on YT if you&apos;re interested. He was unstoppable.

  People who haven&apos;t watched him have no clue how dominant he was in his time.<br><br>When I see guys even thinking whether CR7 was on his level during those United seasons and played better in the PL.... it&apos;s over.<br><br>Henry was a more dominant end efficient dribbler. Year, Ronaldo had some skills, stepovers and quick footwork Henry didn&apos;t have but Henry was miles more effective as a dribbler. He was just breezing past people like nothing.<br><br>Henry was waaay more creative, involved in the build up and had more assists. Despite Ronaldo was a &quot;winger&quot; and Henry as &quot;striker&quot;, Henry was spending most of the time either out wide (his prefered left flank) or deep, very far away from the goal. He would be creating and coming to the toal through an combination or through an individual run. He was rarely waiting for the ball in the box.<br><br>And bar that ONE Ronaldo season, where he had one goal more than Henry in his highest goalscoring PL season (31 vs 30 goals) Henry was scoring plenty more goals.<br>24+ LEAGUE goals for 5 straight seasons. NO one in the world, in the best leagues had those numbers at the time.<br><br>Henry was bullying defenders with his strength, killing them with his pace, making them looks silly with his skills and craft... You can&apos;t really describe with numbers how dominant he was.<br><br>And on top of all that, I almost forgot, he has an absolutely brilliant TEAM PLAYER. So unselfish, he would always pass to his team mate in a better position, had brilliant vision (could have been an top midfielder), top nothch football IQ, a smooth passer. He was always ready to make a great combination with his team mates despite all if his tremendous individual qualities.<br>No wonder he still shares the record with De Bruyne for the highest amount of assists in one PL season (20 in 2003).

  This man gave me the best years of my life as a football fan. Growing up and having this man play for your team was an absolute gift. King Henry 👑

  There were at least 2 years when Thierry Henry deserved the Balon D&apos;or for what he was doing in the EPL, Europe and internationally, but FIFA overlooked him.
