damn yall are tearing tf outta me in the comments 😭 i am trying to read every comment as i promised but theres a whole lot so i apologize if i did not see yours (i really wasnt expecting this to get traction at all). anyway, a lot of the "counter-arguments" ive seen in the comments are usually regurgitating the same thing so ill make a general response to all of them here. read if you want to or not, but the comments are a warzone atm so proceed with caution lmao.

"this video feels counterproductive" "this isnt helping straight men better themselves" "you could have worded this better" "this just feels hateful"

if you guys clicked on this video expecting a philosophical think piece on straight men and how the patriarchy turns a lot of them into bad people and what we can do to stop that, im sorry but you played yourselves. this video at its core, is a rant. its my filtered disdain of a demographic of men made into a short 5 minute rant, thats it. i mean what exactly were you expecting? the title literally says it, why read the title and then get mad when i hate on straight men?? its like walking into pizza pizza and getting upset that the menu consists mostly of pizza, like huh... who would have thought! i didnt make this video to gentle parent straight men and encourage them to better themselves, i made it to be a hater. i dont owe straight men kindness, especially since they wield power over my life. while you guys are feeling upset i called a lot of you out, theres queer people being literally hunted down and killed BY straight men. if we have to live in fear of our existence, im sure you can walk off a 5 minute video of a random person on the internet being bitter.

"not all straight men are like that" "i have personally never done this" "what if someone made a video hating on gay men like this"

if the shoe doesnt fit dont wear it. if you watched the video and realized the issues i talked about were things you never do, then why do you feel offended? you guys say that a lot of the stuff i mentioned is mostly red pilled men, but who are the ones producing that type of content? terrible straight men encourage straight men to be terrible, like i feel like this isnt new... acknowledging this is the first step into solving the problem. however, again, this video wasnt made to help straight men be better, it was to share why i dont like a lot of them. whether you consider the things i said to be valid or not doesnt exactly matter to me. i know all straight men arent like this, its why i mentioned i have some straight male friends. however a lot of them are.

"this isnt just a straight man issue" "this has nothing to do with sexuality" "lgbtq can be racist/homophobic/insensitive as well"

im aware, but this video isnt about queer people or women, its about straight men. please stop with this whataboutism, this argument never works. im aware intersectionality exists, if someone made a video dogging on gay people, i would check if theres a gen issue with the behavior mentioned in the video and see if i do the things mentioned and try to correct it. you guys agree that the behavior i mentioned is bad, but are upset that i labelled straight men for mostly doing those things when its "something everyone can do". this is true, but again, its a pattern i noticed in straight men who are surrounded by other straight men. go watch your average male streamer and you'll see its an echo chamber of misogyny and bad faith takes. im aware queer people can be terrible people, however queer people can relate to having to fear for their lives over a sexuality they cannot control, straight men cant. i hold queer people to a higher bar because i expect them to know better since they experience oppression most straight men will not understand. straight men benefit the most from the patriarchy, they dont understand what its like to live in our shoes, its why the bar is in hell for the most part, because a lot of them are ignorant. i expect the average straight man to BE ignorant because they never faced these experiences most minorities do, so my expectations are always low.

"generalizing straight men like this is bad" "these all just seem like stereotypes" "this way of thinking is harmful" "dont generalize"

while i do agree that generalizing for the most part is a bad thing, its not a black and white picture. its actually very nuanced, i feel like the people saying this are mostly straight men. i make these generalizations because it keeps me SAFE. yes i will assume every straight man i meet is inherently a bad person until proven otherwise. i dont want to enter a friendship with a straight man and realize they're a bad person and even potentially DANGEROUS. for example, im nonbinary, but any random person who glances at me would say im a man. knowing this, if i took a hike randomly and saw a woman and shes clearly uncomfortable and keeping her distance from me because shes by herself with me, a random man, should i feel offended she assumed im a potentially dangerous person? of course not. i know shes fine, she doesnt. assuming that every man on the planet isnt out to potentially get you is what gets a lot of woman killed. theres straight men who lure gay men using dating apps and then kill them, so yes i will always be weary talking to a straight man, because i dont know if i can trust them. these generalizations help keep me and other queer people safe from men who will do harm to us, so i frankly dont care if youre offended about these stereotypes, because at least you dont get killed for them.

"youre a hypocrite" "this sounds like you have moral superiority" "you sound like you think youre superior to straight men" "you act like ure inherently a better person because ure gay"

guys... i literally mentioned at the start of the video i was susceptible to social influences as a kid and watched terrible youtubers growing up. its my sexuality and my race that ostracized me from common thinking patterns from said influences that made me realize that not only was i different, but they were wrong. theres a lot of queer people in this comment section who are also relating that they almost fell down the red pill pipeline. also, i lived like most of my life as a straight dude so i know the ignorance that comes with it, it wasnt until highschool until i truly discovered myself. queer people arent morally superior, i never once claimed that. however, i do think they are more understanding because they know what its like to be outcasted and shamed by society for something they cannot control. straight men have the privilege of never having to feel like this (unless they are poc + disabled, but again, intersectionality), so i dont expect them to understand the struggles we face and its why i grown to dislike them because they let their ignorance and bigotry spill relentlessly. there are understanding and very progressive straight men, its just not common because again, ignorance and privilege. the patriarchy is mostly to blame for this, but the patriarchy is ran by straight men so it will always go back to them.

"i wouldnt wanna be friends with you" "you sound insufferable" "i can see why you dont have many straight friends" "youre extremely annoying"

THEN GET THE HELL OUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- This was a long ass post, but i hope this clarifies some of the points i made and common arguments ive seen in the comments. im sorry, but you guys are not going to make me feel bad for shitting on straight men, that is the last thing i will feel bad about. a lot of straight men are upset i said "most" but its most of you in the comments whining about the video. so thank you for proving my point, i really cannot stand most of you. and to the very few straight men acknowledging you dont relate to any of this and understanding that every community will have its problems but doesnt define YOU as a person, thank you. and thank you to the people (mainly other queers) defending me in the comments, i appreciate all of you and i hope you found the video relatable and enjoyable.

Being a straight dude watching this while recognizing the archetype they're talking about and being mutually annoyed by it was a bit relieving.

In Brazil we mostly call this type of guys "hetero top", and they're almost everywhere. As a straight man, one of my cousins is like this and he kinda influenced me in a big part of my life, but once I started understanding this situation more, I just wanted to stop being near him. After some time, he stopped showing up. I still find it kinda rude to say it like this, but my life has been better without him. I made new friends, started talking to my other cousins more, and started really being myself. I find it interesting how he has some opinions the same as my 60 years old dad who has 2 lesbian daughters, like "women can't drive" or "trans women are just guys in dresses", it really shows how there's not an age limit to being like this and how the "hetero tops" just borrowed some opinions from the past century. I still hope my cousin gets better tho.

As a non-binary (closer to feminine person, but amab), i found that even "supportive" cishetero man talk about me like im something to tolerate, not living breathing being on my own.

I have a straight male friend, and my guy has the BIGGEST ego I've ever seen, which he defends by claiming he took an IQ test when he was nine and scored 129 (bro is definitely not that smart), and for some reason always talks about sex, and says I'M the one who's weird for not thinking about sex all the time

Edit:
I have more to add about him, he claims to not be racist, but then he refers to people who have a dark skin colour as other versions of a mutual friend of ours who has a dark skin colour, also he is EXTREMELY homophobic and transphobic

As a pretty default (autistic with strong moral integrity) straight guy with female friends, it saddens me deeply to hear their very valid complaints about men and then to be called the "good exception". I don't even do much, the bar is truly low, all it takes is treating women and queer people like the human beings they are. Some of my other straight male friends are genuinely insufferable when it comes to the topic of dating, they sound so entitled it pisses me off. A few years back I'd just stay quiet but now I openly argue with them every time they bring up this manosphere crap. To me generalizing all women into a single entity and projecting all of your frustrations onto them just doesn't make logical sense. Some personal accountability needs to be held. Also having actual female friends is a great way to quickly disprove all manosphere talking points. For the women and queers reading this, I can personally attest that not all straight men are bad, there still are great people out there, they just typically aren't the loudest ones.

It took me a while to figure this out about straight people, because I must've struck gold with my mostly straight male friend group that I've settled with since preschool. Like, they're all chill. Sure, they aren't perfect, but they're genuine people who've rarely been performatively masculine. That's probably also why it took me so long to figure out I was a woman, because I was so lucky with the boys I found in my life that I never felt alienated, even if I was "one of the boys". But evil lurks beyond my little circle of friends. Men are crazy 💀
