Bravo, you have discovered Padua, now you have to discover hundreds of other fabulous cities. Today's Italy has been very lucky not to be a united nation in the Middle Ages. In fact, the city states were born, called Municipal cities. Each with its own army, its lands, and its wars. This situation created its borders dotted with castles and fortresses. The government buildings, its churches, the senators' villas, the noble palaces. After a few centuries the " signorie " were born. Regional cities that govern a larger territory. Republic of Venice, Duchy of Milan, Grand Duchy of Tuscany, Kingdom of the Two Sicilies and many others.<br>Not having been a united nation for 1,600 years (fall of the Roman Empire 476 BC), has created<br>an incredible variety of art and culture unique in the world.<br>PS. A lifetime is not enough to see everything. 30,000 castles, fortresses and watchtowers. 3,500,000 medieval, Renaissance, and Enlightenment buildings. 8,000 archaeological sites.<br>It's up to you to have the desire and passion to discover as much as possible.

Excellent video! We stayed in Padova for 2 nights right around the time you posted this. This is where we stayed while visting Venice and Verona. Podova was absolutely awsome, could have spent a few more days in Padova by itself. Deffinately looking forward to going back.

Padua has long been on my list but never seem to get there. Italy is the Jewell in Europe’s crown, absolutely extraordinary if you love the history of art and architecture. 😊
