Come on now... her monologue about him made their relationship very clear... met in college, had a "passionate month" together, then became best friends and remained best friends for 10 years. He always wanted more than friendship, but she didn't. Julianne is actually the villain of this story. She's charming and funny, but she's selfish and sneaky. If he chose her, she wouldn't stay with him for long; she'd break his heart all over again.
