  If I had a nickel for every time the entire course of European history was drastically altered as a result of someone being thrown out of a window in Prague, I&apos;d have two nickels. Which isn&apos;t a lot, but it&apos;s weird that it happened twice.

  Funnily enough in the Netherlands we don&apos;t really learn about it that much, it&apos;s mainly known as &quot;that stuff that happened at the end of the Eighty Years War&quot;.

  Berserk itself was inspired heavely on thrity years war, from Guts being a mercenary, the giant swords and ocasional use of cannons, from the level of destruction and despair, from the little ice age, from the total carnage, from the eclipses observed during this time. <br><br>Also the Kushan were inspired on the Siege of Vienna by Ottoman forces.

  Fun fact: the events of the 30 years war are a big source of inspiration for The Witcher series at least when it comes to the main canon from the books. Even the various nations in the series represent a lot of real world estates and kingdoms that existed, fell, and were absorbed. Nilfgaard is a cross between the Hapsburgs and the Romanovs while also being a metaphor for modern Centralised Government States like the Soviet Union. Which makes sense when you consider it was written by a Polish author that had a deep interest in the medieval period of Germanic, Saxon, and Slavic European Nation States; who grew up in Soviet Controlled Poland. But yeah pretty much just sub the Catholic and Protestant Churches for Internal Conflict between the Mages and the Rulers. The books even mention how the climate has changing to reference the little ice age.
