(Refrain) Come home, come home; you who are weary come home; earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling, calling, O sinner, come home! (Verse 2) Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading, pleading for you and for me? Why should we linger and heed not his mercies, mercies for you and for me? (Refrain) Come home, come home; you who are weary come home; earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling, calling, O sinner, come home! (Verse 3) Time is now fleeting, the moments are passing, passing from you and from me; shadows are gathering, deathbeds are coming, coming for you and for me. (Refrain) Come home, come home; you who are weary come home; earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling, calling, O sinner, come home! (Verse 4) O for the wonderful love he has promised, promised for you and for me! Though we have sinned, he has mercy and pardon, pardon for you and for me. (Refrain) Come home, come home; you who are weary come home; earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling, calling, O sinner, come home! 🌄 About This Appalachian Folk Version This Appalachian folk arrangement combines traditional male and female duet vocals with close mountain harmonies, fingerpicked acoustic guitar, and a sparse front-porch style inspired by early Appalachian gospel music. Rather than a large choir or modern worship band, this version captures the quiet intimacy of two voices singing together, allowing the timeless lyrics of Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling to remain at the center. Whether you're searching for traditional gospel music, acoustic Christian worship, old-fashioned hymns, bluegrass gospel, or Appalachian folk hymns, we hope this arrangement encourages your faith and points you to Christ. 📜 The Story Behind the Hymn Written and composed in 1880 by Will L. Thompson, Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling has become one of the most beloved invitation hymns in Christian history. The hymn beautifully portrays Jesus gently calling sinners to repentance, forgiveness, and eternal life. The hymn became especially associated with evangelist Dwight L. Moody, who reportedly told Thompson near the end of his life that he would rather have written Softly and Tenderly than anything else. Over the past century, the hymn has been sung in churches around the world and at countless funerals and memorial services, including the funeral of Martin Luther King Jr., making it one of the most enduring gospel hymns ever written. 🎼 If You Enjoy This Hymn...
