No band's ever meant more to me than the Smiths did when I was a teenager. I own every record on 12" vinyl & was lucky enough to have seen them live a few times. I've even met every one of them except Andy Rouke (Mick Joyce & Jonny Marr both signed my Queen is Dead t-shirt). Love this record.

I think too, Frankly Mr. Shankly, is about former Liverpool FC manager, Bill Shankly.

Vicker’s has some very anachronistic takes - “gender identity” and “non-binary” are both post-Butler, post-Smith’s neologisms, and she has the Smiths as part of the Madchester scene that came after them.

I've never heard of Morrissey wearing high heels during early shows. Is this true (anyone)? Morrissey's friend James Maker danced in stilettos on stage with the band during the first 2-3 performances. I'm wondering if this is the actual origin of the Vickers quote.
