I expect my guests to be on time. So that is not a general rule.

Hmm I'm Polish myself and I always arrive on time, same as my guests :P Being late is often considered rude - especially if there's hot food served

As a Slovak, this is so hillarious for me to watch and realize that I understand 75% of what’s being said without ever learning Polish :). Plus, your language is cute as hell.

I`m Polish and in Poland to be on time is an expression of respect to others, it's "a virtue'. When visiting someone at home, being late or too early can be understood as being rude, not respectful for other persons time schedule.

    Another important tip:
When talking to some stranger on the street, or in a formal situation, make sure to have your hands out of your pockets. It might be seen as rude and untrustworthy by Poles, especially the older generations. Younger Poles are more lax about it - but in formal situations, always make sure to have your hands out of your pockets. By showing your hands in the view, you're subconsciously telling "I have no dirty tricks in my hands", so you can be trusted, and thus you're showing respect to the interlocutor.
It's a deeply rooted cultural thing (how criminals held knives in their pockets, ready to backstab you), difficult to explain without me writing an essay here, but the rule of thumb is just keep your hands on view when talking :)
Gesticulation is bonus points ;)

For #1 I recommend just going on time. Every guest always comes on time. It's better to be on time, being late is considered rude. Speaking from a Polish human that lives in England
