I grew up in a village called Llanigon at the bottom of a valley tucked in between the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains. When out for a bimble, we always used to take an extra Mars Bar or two with us - because if we were passed by a man carrying an 80lb bergen on his way to an orange tent on one of the peaks, he was doing the Fan Dance - you'd just hand them a Mars Bar. They didn't have time to stop or even say thanks most of the time, but you knew what it was worth to them.

I very much doubt that any Seal would be stupid enough to mock SAS, they would have mutual respect for fellow warriors.

I have the utmost respect for our SAS. I was stationed at RAF St Athan late 80s to Feb 90. I used to hill walk in the Brecon Beacons, and know how unforgiving the terrain could be. I certainly would`nt night walk them. Loved the story.

I’m ex 59 Commando, an SAS feeder and know 10 men who passed selection. Smart, insane endurance and no ego is tough to beat

I always find these sad, not for the men there, but for me. I know I've never been that brave in mind and body, and I hope never to find out. WELL DONE, EVERYONE WHO MADE IT, AND WELL DONE, EVERYONE WHO TRIED.

I used to run outward bound for inner-London teenagers treking in the Brecon Beacons. They all returned to Inner-city life in London with a completely different mindset.

Back when I was a squaddie I spent a fortnight training in the Beacons. I was happy to leave. It took two showers for me to get something like clean.

Miller and Carter.  They must have been out for a pint in town and dropped in to the Old Market for a steak.  AI destroying local names is painful.

Time, 15.17. "Placed his trekking poles into the ground" ? ? ?  Poles ?  Someone's having a laugh. Hows he holding his rifle?  In his teeth 😂

I've been walking in the Beacons and the Black Mountains. Good fun.
