Can I say that I've never seen a SAS operator say Sir, if you wave they'll wave back , one once said to Margaret Thatcher " move your fucking head " she was in front of the TV . True story

SAS got into a bit of hot water about 20 years ago. There was one of those big combined NATO exercises and evaluations taking place on one of the huge bases in the middle of the US. One exercise was to rescue a hostage. After about 20 mins from being given the signal to begin the main observer lost patience and asked the SAS officer when they were going to start. The officer looked at his watch and said, they've already got the hostage. And they had, but the hot water came because they knocked out the hostage before bringing them back to the exercise base. When a credulous senior American Officer asked why they were told that it was in case the hostage was a plant.<br><br>Oh, and something that a REME Sgt told me, hot water is good because it means it's time for a cuppa! 😂

Ever since David Stirling founded the SAS, they've done things their way. As for addressing senior officers by rank, no way for that in the SAS
