I am a Nagar from Gujarat and whatever she told is absolutely correct. We have never heard of Dahej and how things work around it because there has been no such system in our community. <br><br>Our weddings are very much spiritually inclined , we dont follow any regressive ritual. In our weddings , the groom's father and groom side's family is always concerned about bride's father , they always empathize with Bride's father and whatever bride's fathers wishes in terms of how the weeding would go , how many people from the groom's family should be attending the wedding everything is decided by bride's father. If he says 50 people, groom's father will hesitate bringing 55 to the wedding .<br><br>I feel so lucky being part of this community.

We are Thiyas from the northern part of Kerala, and our community has traditionally not followed the dowry system either. Girls have long been celebrated and treated on par with boys, and daughters have historically received an equal share of family property. It’s a tradition we’re proud of, and it shows that not all Hindu communities have practiced dowry or gender discrimination.
