  If you don't have access to 3d printing, a kitchen pot lid organizer is a good alternative. I bought one to store my laptops a while back.

  Been running proxmox on laptops for years. Some Tips(can easily run 4 watts idle rivalling rpi&apos;s in efficiency):<br> &nbsp;* disable screen after 1min(run it in systemd at startup, easily 3-2 watts savings): setterm -blank 1<br> &nbsp;* install amd/intel microcode for stability: apt install intel-microcode<br> &nbsp;* Prolong battery life by say, stop charging at 80%: Thinkpads: use tlp. Dell: tlp or configurable on BIOS/UEFI. depends on the model. Prevents swollen batteries since it uses power outlet all the time and charges battery when it goes less than 80%. <br> &nbsp;* tlp-rdw: disable bluetooth or wifi via software or BIOS/UEFI via hardware.<br> &nbsp;* install sensors: run fan only say, when it reaches 60C temp. <br> &nbsp;* tlp: configure to the hilt, awesome powersavings and can easily hit C8 (of course, depends on your CPU.)

  I switched to a laptop server for about a year. Electricity got super expensive here in Europe for a little while after Ukraine was invaded. Found an HP with a 10th gen i3 and a broken hinge for dead cheap. I ran four 5 TB 2.5&quot; HDDs from a USB hub as well as two 2 TB NVME drives. The entire thing used about 15W in total.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIBmVXteOcI&amp;t=298">4:58</a> thinnification has done such a disservice to the laptop industry. The inside of that old MacBook looks incredible. Opened up easy, and looks like a breeze to work on. Like, this is what I&apos;d expect from right-to-repair-centric laptop manufacturer. We gotta go back.

  As an Enterprise technician , I really like this idea. Huge companies refresh every five years all their laptops and pay to have them taken away. I&apos;ve e-wasted many factory refurbishd Dell 7940 sent to us by a company we took over straight to ewaste because policy so it pleases me to see older perfectly servicable hardware being repurposed.😊

  I was really happy to see this video, as someone who uses a laptop as a server at home. I got a &quot;gaming&quot; laptop from a coworker who was going to toss it, and it ended up being 3x more powerful as my previous server, at about 45% as much power draw. You bet your ass I switched over to it ASAP.<br>It&apos;s so much better, quieter, and everything I need to manage it is just built in. No need to find a keyboard or mouse or monitor. Super compact.

  This is incredibly clever. A couple of weeks ago someone close to me was selling a laptop with a missing screen for probably 1/4 of what it would sell for with one. If it&apos;s still for sale I might go give this a try. Thanks as always!

  My home server is a HP mini PC running Proxmox, but I recently added an old gaming laptop (8750H+GTX1060) to run local LLMs keeping power efficiency in mind. The laptop idles at around 15w at idle and ramps up to 130w when the gpu kicks in to run the LLMs. I got the best of both worlds in my opinion.
