  As someone who lives in the rockies, it's really interesting how different the rockies inspire fear compared to the Appalachians. The Appalachian mountains feel menacing and predatory. Like you're constantly being watched and hunted from behind the dense tree growth. Whereas the rockies feel indifferent about you living or dying. That if you die, it will likely be due to your own hubris thinking you can beat mother nature, or that you underestimated the cruel indifference of the mountains. In the appalacians, if you die, it will keep your body hidden to try and get more people to venture in, but in the rockies, it will show off your remains as a warning to others. It's like the Appalachians want you to die, but to the rockies, your death is meaningless.

  I had a spooky experience DEEP in the rockies. Was snowmobiling to a remote cell site in CO. No cell service. Rolled my snowmobile. Walked all the way up to the site because it was only about two miles and that was my only option to get cell service to get help. When I came back to my snowmobile (when I was at the site help was also on the way) absolutely EVERYTHING was moved around the site of my crashed snowmobile. My gloves, my supplies, my snowmobile windshield, etc.... But there were NO tracks in the snow. No animal tracks, no human, just my tracks from earlier. Felt an overwhelming sense of dread like I was being watched. It was dead silent. No wind. No animals. Nothing. Brain piercing silence. Then my friends rolled up to help me get my snowmobile out. Spooky.

  Paul Gallenstein&apos;s murder is one of the scarier things that&apos;s happened in relation to the Rockies in recent times. He went on a hike randomly one day on a hugely popular trail some ten minutes away from the city, only to be found dead with several bullet wounds halfway through the trail. No one ever saw him die or heard any gunshots despite how close he was to civilization and despite him being killed in broad daylight. The police even know the exact time he died based on his watch recording his heartbeat. His wife got desperate enough for anyone to report something that she put up dozens of billboards across her state.

  I’ve always lived in Colorado. It’s good to see our criptids getting the love they deserve cuz they are TERRIFYING to experience. I go camping at least twice a year every year and I have my entire life. On some trips I sleep in the car because of how cold it gets. One of these times I woke up to a HUGE shadow darting across the treeline from the dying fire. It scared me enough that I stayed up for a good 45 minutes waiting for it to happen again, but when it didn’t I conked out. In the morning a couple hours later I got up to pee only to see every single idem we left on the ground, on the hood of the car I was sleeping in. EVERYTHING. Even the plastic half burnt away in the fire pit. The chairs we used were standing on the cover for my dad’s truck bed. mind you I’m a pretty light sleeper, the tap of something on the hood definitely would’ve woken me up. Fucking terrifying 😭😭

  &quot;horrors of the rocky mountains&quot; me: oh so colorado~<br><br>it&apos;s always fun to hear these stories from places i live. Yeah it&apos;s haunted as fuck up in those mountains. I can see them from my window. it didn&apos;t snow as much this year though unfortunately so i can tell a drought is coming :(<br><br>edit: not sure why so many ppl thought I was literal about saying the Rockies are only in CO lol
