  Having worked on my own book for several years, I have a weakness for continually adding in whatever tickles my fancy, rendering the thing pretty dense and bloated. However, where possible, I&apos;d like to find ways to make it more Christian.

  He literally spoke about Beowulf as the beginning of the genre, stating how the ethic baseline of that story was christian.

  Hear me out, imagine if there was a fantasy film made with live action/animated hybrid format where they include Christian themes involiving dream interpretation, spiritual warfare and the concept of dreams (animated) and reality (live action) being shown in the way that can set good balance between both of the formats.

  I feel like a lot of the unjust animosity towards Fantasy came from the &quot;Satanic Panic&quot; where Christians flipped out over D&amp;D, and of course eventually the Harry Potter books, because how DARE kids pretend to be mages and wizards? &quot;Wizards BAD!&quot;...except, lest we forget, the Magi (&quot;Mages&quot;) or Wise Men (&quot;Wizards,&quot; if you will) we know and love from the Christmas story.

  I would argue that Dune is not a mockery of Christianity, but merely a case study of what happens when good men are corrupted by power. Christ was not corrupted because He was God and all good. Paul Atredes was human and subject to moral faults, just as are all humans are. Even “messianic” figures can be corrupted because, simply, they are not THE Messiah. The message of Dune is to beware of absolute power and the people who wield it, a pretty good message if you ask me.

  We need an epic fantasy that starts with a post modern, deconstructed hero, and has him reconstructed into an actual hero in the Tolkien tradition as his main character arc. The world urgently needs several variations of that story to hit the cultural zeitgeist. I think A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms S1 is a nudge in that direction, and its success reflects how much people are starving for actual moral, ethical heroes. I fear Dunk will get deconstructed as the serie goes along, but that cultural signal from season 1 is loud and clear. The rejection of Rings of Power is the other side of that coin.

  I deeply appreciate you not shying away from using Christ as a standard for fantasy. This video was a such a refresher to me because you use Christianity in such a casual manner. Like you just talk about it like is a topic you speak of every day. Thank you. This was encouraging to watch

  You’re losing me a bit on Dune. When last I heard, Frank Herbert was actually cautioning against following people who set THEMSELVES up as Messianic figures, but really weren’t. And given that the Fremen are basically space Muslims, it’s a criticism of Islam, if anything.<br><br>The rest is pretty on point though. I can’t remember if Tolkien or Lewis said it, but: “The world doesn’t need more Christian literature. It needs more Christian’s writing literature.”<br><br>I fully agree. It’s starts with us.
