I thought the Chair was "proof" for himself that like that stuff behind the wall is real. Although it would be odd to choose an object that is not flawed

personally i liked that captain clark's horror was diminished in some of those later shots. if anything it felt like a heavy handed metaphor for confronting your fears and finding that you can overcome them. the idea of facing the thing you were terrified of, finding it still scary but also not what you made it up to be, overcoming it, only to find yourself facing a far greater and more mysterious fear (async) is pretty solid to me.

I love how when Clark decides to stay in the Backrooms, he says he “opened the window”, yet Mary’s mother was so insistent that Mary stayed away from the newspapered windows when she was a child because something would get her. Makes you wonder…

If I didn’t see the title then I would think that this would be the still life interpretation of Misery by pupsies

If all your analyses are this good and in-depth, then I think I'll be staying with your channel for a while.

Thank you for posting this. Those two critiques were exceedingly mild. Especially the one about Mary’s exploration being too slow in the back rooms. That couldn’t have been more than one minute total it felt like.

Those scenes did show us some important little nuggets, like the rotting hand and the total rearrangement of the furniture.
