  I like seeing Near and Mello as if they both selectively emphasized different parts of L’s methodology for catching Kira. <br>Near focused more on L’s solitary analysis and deduction, while Mello epitomizes L’s high risk, action-focused strategies for advancing the case. <br><br>It sure ain’t relevant, but Mello is also REALLY that dripped out. Forget Misa, he is the true fashion icon of Death Note.

  Tsugumi Ohba did not state that Mello had to be killed specifically because the ending wouldn&apos;t have been exciting. Instead, creator interviews in Death Note 13: How to Read reveal that Mello was written into a narrative corner because he learned too much about the Death Note too quickly, and his dramatic sacrifice served as the necessary catalyst to expose Light.

  I think near was being 100% honest with mello. Near acknowledges multiple times he cant operate without the support of a team. He even asked for help to book a plane ticket. Thats what i came to truly love about near after my first and second rewatch he admits his fatal flaws instead of brushing them aside.

  Mello is the most underrated character in the verse. He hit the game winner on the Kira case, Near sat on his ass the whole time while Mello made all the moves.

  I&apos;ve said it before and I&apos;ll say it again. Mello was so smart that he knew he had to die to solve the Kira case. Only one other person in the verse was that intelligent.

  i tend to think of Mello as a sorta loose cannon type, unlike L and Near, he wasnt afraid to play dirtier then them since he goes so far as to join and effectivly take control of the mafia just to get to Light.
