My dad was murdered in 1992 by the UFF for being Irish. We weren’t just fighting British and Unionist, we were fighting serial killers pretending to be political.

So they interviewed 2 former paramilitary members. One guy killed two random civilians because they were catholic. The other guy killed military and police. Kinda sums up the whole history right there

I'm from Ireland and this video is ok but , you really should try and look at a deeper history as to why Ireland was partioned in the first place and Irelands 800 year struggle for freedom from British colonisation. 🇮🇪

I have a friend who lives in Northern Ireland, and she's pretty vocally aligned with a united Ireland. She told me that she's been beaten up by people in her town for calling it Derry instead of Londonderry, shit ain't over yet

I do appreciate how much emphasis is put on loyalists not actually having any identity apart from hating the Irish, any time I hear someone say they’re loyalist because the IRA did something terrible, I can always think of something loyalist paramilitaries or the British army itself did that was far worse, also we never occupied and genocided the British over 800 years.

Now it makes sense why Ireland was one of the first countries to be in support of the Palestinians. There was an understanding.

Another thing about the Internment camps : The British government passed a law that put a curfew on Irish Catholics, so not only were Brit soldiers arresting civilians, they were torturing them in these camps, also, google a Northern Irish man named Jim Auld, he was one of was one of 14 civilians subjected to interrogation methods since ruled as torture. A quote from an article on the subject : "Jim Auld and 13 other Irish men were singled out as guinea pigs for special interrogation techniques that were replicated by British and US interrogators in Iraq and Guantanamo Bay. “It was so similar to what we went through,” said Auld, in an interview at his Belfast home" They were kidnapped and taken to a secret facility in Derry. Jim was a dental assistant, and they now may not get any justice because of a proposed UK law thats called "The legacy law" which will prevent any war crimes commited during the Troubles by the British government from being prosecutable.

The video glosses over it, but the IRA actually formed as a direct response to a loyalist paramilitary called the Ulster Volunteers, which itself formed in 1912 ahead of a proposed home rule bill for Ireland. The Ulster Volunteers signed a petition that all but threatened war with the British government itself if home rule was enacted in Ireland. Bear in mind that this was only home rule (a devolved government still within the United Kingdom like Scotland or Wales) and not independence. That should give you an idea of how reactionary loyalism has always been.

Saying its worse than Iraq is insane. That said I did meet a former British soldier who served in Belfast and Iraq in the first gulf war.
He preferred Iraq over Ireland because in Ireland, it was hard to know who "the enemy" was. Because they looked the same.

"If it's brown shoot it down." Was probably how he spent his time in Iraq. Not really applicable to Ireland

Me and my family are from Northern England, a VERY poor area that is today still one of the most neglected areas in England. Its not just Ireland and Scotland that hate the British government. Just seeing how my family and home is and was treated, it leaves no doubt that they would treat those they didnt see as citizens even worse.

Its so sad to see people like my mum who grew up in horrible poverty and how that life beat them down so terribly that they dont believe anything can change.

I hope my generation and the younger ones can help change things for the better. I wish it could happen now.
