  The Rolling Giant was made by Kane Pixels due to a childhood history of going to the actual mall that the giant was in, the Valley View Mall in Dallas Texas. The giant is a marionette version of botanist Julien Reverchon hence the flowers for his hands, the marionette (moved during the parade by the two rods sticking out of the back of it) was made for a parade near the mall and the puppet was stored in the mall until it was abandoned and demolished. And no, the video does not take place in the backrooms, the mall is just empty because the video takes place before it was demolished and after it was abandoned. The original playlist that kane made that contained the &quot;Oldest View&quot; video actually says this. He also does not get caught by the creature, a platform he was standing on while attempting to escape came loose causing him to lose his footing and fall to his death. The giant is also theorized to not even be trying to hurt the protagonist, It is said that he has been alone for a while and wanted a hug, personally i dont believe this much but regardless its a theory.
