Thanks for watching — which type are you so far… one-box simplicity or two-box tweakability? Don't spoil it for others if you've skipped ahead!

Quick extra detail I didn't mention in the video: for the Rivo+ and Preciso stack, Volumio also makes a Lineo5 Duo — it's a dual-output linear power supply that powers both units from one box and works out cheaper than buying two separate Lineo5s. I tested with a single Lineo5 in the video, so keep that Duo option in mind if you're costing the two-box route.

Curious — which setup would you choose before knowing the twist at 11:30? Let me know below and I'll tell you what that says about your audiophile personality.

And if you enjoyed this video, the full Noble Artemis review is coming soon — links to the Artemis are in the description.

I'm an old hi fi guy that bought my first stereo in 1975 when I was 18. I could have never imagined the incredible possibilities of hi fi today. We are living in a new golden age of audio enjoyment. I like separate boxes because I could change out a DAC or a streamer that I didn't like and keep the one I like. I have 3 receivers in my entertainment center right now that I can switch around. The more boxes the better! lol

Thanks for another great, thoughtful review!
I’d like to share a slightly different perspective on the rise of the "one-box solution." While it often seems like this trend is driven by consumer demand for simplicity, I actually believe it's primarily a result of rapidly advancing technology—we can now pack incredible engineering, DACs, and streaming capabilities into a single compact chassis without major compromises.
For many audio enthusiasts, however, the magic of the hobby goes well beyond just listening to music. We love the gear itself! Part of the joy is experimenting, tweaking, and swapping individual components to fine-tune the sound signature over time. I’m really proud of my own system, which is built from carefully selected separate components.
For me, switching to a single box would feel a bit too safe—and frankly, a little boring! It would take away a big part of the hands-on enjoyment that keeps us so engaged with high-end audio.
Appreciate your content as always, keep up the great work!

I'm definitely in the two box category- in fact, I prefer to have as many boxes as possible. I enjoy my music even with just an apple dongle sure, but I'm a gadget nerd and I absolutely love having a ton of aluminum devices with tubes and knobs and displays and cables to mess around with. The common saying is that audiophiles use music to listen to their audio gear, but for me that's both true and completely separate from when I just want to get lost in the music. Some days I set up a blind A/B test between two of my dacs, and some days I don't bother and just put on my favorite CD. So maybe I'm really a bit of both.

Primo + with the Lineo5
It’s amazing the difference a good power supply makes.

I really don't see the point of a touch screen when you are going to use the app for control anyway. I would go for the Primo plus. K.I.S.S.

These days, in my advanced years, I'd actually prefer to vote for the simplicity of the Primo+ one-box solution (with optional power supply upgrade). Happy listening, and cheers! 😊🍺🎵

Bang for the buck! You showed some great alternatives here. I would love to see a Rivo+ thought with a SFP input. I'd love to try that in my system. Since, my RME ADI-2 DAC keeps pace with improvements across my system, an updated Rivo+ captures my fancy.

Love what you did here. This is exactly the type of information many need.

Volumio dropped the ball by giving the LPS a different design. I wished it came in the same style and shape as the other boxes in the line up. I wished more companies paid attention to aesthetic of a "stack". These boxes are not merely sound equipments but also furniture that sits in our living rooms.

I did originally have the A6 ME ( Gen 2 ) with the Chord TT2, but tried the Volumeo revo plus with the Lineo 5, it was just on another level, just more musical and engaging, easier to follow the music, less fatigue.
Not bothered with the display.
Then going further I compared the TT2 with the Laiv Harmony Dac, using the Volumeo - OMG the Harmony was just more true , more organic and musical, bigger sound stage, no digital glare, no fatiguing, not rushed, a nicer experience.
Both the TT2 And the Harmony with the Volumeo are both excellent Dacs, but for me in my system and room , the Harmony was much preferred.

As mentioned the Revo plus gets transformed with the Lineo5.

I went for an Eversolo T8 / Volumio Preciso combination. Sounds very good to me, didn't cost me an arm and a leg and I avoided the Volumio OS quirks by choosing their dac and someone else's streamer.

I'm not in any specific camp since I appreciate all things audio.

However, when building a system with separates, doing your due diligence is crucial to ensure proper impedance bridging and gain stage matching.

Many people skip this step. This is exactly where AIOs or same-brand separates shine, as those components are explicitly engineered to work together out of the box.

Without that synergy, a lot of these Franken systems end up with poor gain staging and suboptimal performance.
